The Interior Design Outline is a guide you can use to significantly reduce your workload. Read on if you have not used it yet.
I have failed.
I thought this time it would be different.
However, it has been confirmed that not creating an Outline is a fundamental mistake even for experienced interior designers.
Well, what is this Outline?
Excessive expectations are often placed on interior designers.
He deals with interior design, so he creates spaces that are beautiful and functional. It is as simple as that.
As if we could read minds.
After all, it is enough that investor to show a few photos from Instagram or Pinterest.
So in a few moments there is a beautiful, well-matched to the cubature, functionally thought-out space that perfectly suits his taste.
Or does it?
If you know from an autopsy, you will definitely be interested in creating an interior Outline.
Before you make the first stroke, you should fill out a detailed questionnaire with the investor.
This is not about mood boards, although they are a good starting point.
There are too many variables for you to rely on your intuition. Based on the conversation, create a detailed list of design choices for each room.
It’s not enough to just define the style.
Basic information to be included in the Outline:
- function of the room
- style of the room
- predominant color of the room
- tone of the floor and baseboards
- tone of the door
- tone of window decoration
- tone of lighting
- list of equipment
- tone of the equipment.
Be sure to ask the client to accept the Outline in writing.
This has the sense that he is familiar with it.
The Interior Design Outline should be the main document of cooperation, which will be updated with more further details.
After the first iteration, prepare lists of elements and your own inspirations for the client that are consistent with the design’s Outline.
Update the Outline after discussing the prepared materials.
In this way, you will save many hours of work on corrections.
