The first interior design task that AI did for me. And for which I got paid.

Over the past 1.5 months, I have been exploring the possibilities of using AI to improve the design process. As an experienced interior designer, I am interested in solutions that can help me in my daily work.

The truth is painful.

I am still looking for spectacular solutions to speed up my work as an interior designer using AI. Even so, I have a first small success. I have used the DALL-E platform to create the wall decoration concept.

And it was fast.

The most important thing is to change the mindset.

As Dickie and Cole put it, AI is your intern.

As the boss, it’s your job to articulate the task. If it’s vague, the intern will do it vaguely. If the task is unclear, the effect will not be valuable.

As a boss, your job is to “think.”

Consider the simplest solution.

I had to find suitable artwork.

We planned to put a big mirror on the entire wall. But the client wanted a different idea. A spectacular bas-relief would fit the whole interior, but it would take a lot of time to model it in 3D.

Finding the right graphic did not turn out to be the best solution.

Easier to create than to find.

As it turned out, the image generator was my solution.

I use a visualization program that lets me use bump and normal maps to simulate the wall’s structure. I typed the prompt, and the first suggestions appeared after a while. Yes, the final effect will be the creation of a sculptor.

But to present the idea, collaboration with AI proved to be effective.
