I was afraid AI would take away my job as an interior designer until I asked this one question.
Automation and machine learning are the new enemy #1.
Interior design services are also being offered, thanks to which AI creates dazzling designs out of thin air. This evokes extreme emotions. From total doom to admiration for the new technology.
As so often in the past, the extremes do not correspond to reality.
I asked chatGPT to recommend courses on the use of AI in interior design.
Here is the list created by artificial intelligence:
“AI for Interior Design” on Coursera: This course is offered by the University of California, San Diego and covers the basics of using AI for interior design…
“Introduction to AI in Interior Design” on Udemy: This course provides a comprehensive overview of how AI is being used in the interior design industry…
“AI in Interior Design” on edX: This course, offered by the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, focuses on the practical applications of AI in the interior design…
“AI for Interior Design” on LinkedIn Learning.
“AI-Powered Interior Design” on Skillshare
Made up out of thin air, total bullshit.
The answer is almost perfect.
None of these courses exist, even though their names and descriptions sound great. And this is where I see the biggest danger.
ALMOST PERFECT.
Without orientation in the subject matter and in a text more complicated than a list, such invented information will start to look like facts.
I have completely stopped being afraid of AI taking my job.
Now I wonder if it will actually help me do it faster, or if it will be like a bad assistant that makes lots of mistakes.
