Having trouble finding a circle center in Sketchup?

I have been working with Sketchup for 15 years and it happens that I forget this function.

It is not flawless, but in certain cases it saves my sanity.

Finding the center of a circle in Sketchup can be tricky.

  • circle is too big → no proper accuracy
  • circle is too small → can’t snap to the center point
  • too many elements → reference points jump around

Drawing diameters is a good idea, but a complete waste of time.

Instead of struggling and workarounds, do it:

  • Right click on the edge of the circle
  • Select “Find center

Done. Two clicks are enough to find the center of the circle in Sketchup.

This solution has one drawback that you should remember.

The center is marked by the Guide Point.

If you move the circle, the Guide Point does not move.

Unless you group it.

With this function you can find the center of any arc.

So you no longer need to struggle to find the center of an arc or circle in SketchUp, you only need two clicks.
